My client a well established manufacturing and distribution company based across two sites in Altham and Padiham are now looking to expand in their transport office. The main purpose of a Transport Administrator is booking in customer deliveries and ensuring all paperwork is completed to the required standard for each dispatch. Communicate with customers including large well known clients, drivers and transport companies in an efficient and friendly manner.

The working hours are days Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm.

Main List of Activities

Manage, organise and plan deliveries – UK and Export and including large well known brands– complete all relevant delivery paperwork to an excellent standard.

Book deliveries with customers via e-mail or phone ensuring that all booking dates and times are recorded.

Create Delta Picking notes and ensure these are provided to the relevant person within our warehouse.

Work closely with the transport manager to ensure that deliveries are planned in a cost-efficient way whilst still maintaining optimum service levels.

Communicate and provide information by relevant methods internally and externally to assist and enable organisational operations and effective service to connecting groups.

Quick and decisive decision making to deal with customer complaints and problems.

Communicate and liaise verbally and in writing, interpret and respond clearly and effectively to spoke requests over the phone or in person and to verbal and written instructions.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, managers and customers whilst providing administrative support to the Transport Operations Manager.

Create advanced shipping notes and other customer specific documents.

Establish and maintain working relationships with the specific customers assigned to you through both internal and external communication.

Desired Skill Set

Good geographical knowledge of the UK

Load planning experience is desirable.

Knowledge of SAGE 200/ Delta is desirable.

A good knowledge of UK & export documentation

Experience of dealing with freight forwarders and sea freight

Excellent attention to detail

Willingness to work flexibly.

Ability to prioritize workload.

Approachable manner and good communication skills

Good IT skills in particular Excel and Access Databases

Willingness to work overtime when necessary.

Ability to stay calm under pressure.

Knowledge of EDI processes is desirable.
