Your Next Job – What you’ll be doing
 
This business is currently seeking an up-and-coming Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their Highway Term Maintenance team based out of their Waltham Forest depot, where they prioritise the safety and efficiency of local road networks. Collaborating closely with Local Authorities, the mission is to minimise disruptions and ensure smooth traffic flow through a comprehensive range of services. From reactive maintenance to planned upgrades, including street lighting and signage, this team operates with a commitment to excellence and responsiveness.
 
As an AQS, your role would involve supporting in the management the financial aspects of the project to ensure cost-effectiveness and adherence to budgetary constraints. This includes supporting with preparing tender and contract documents, assessing project costs, and conducting cost control throughout the project lifecycle. You would also be responsible for valuing completed work, preparing payment applications, and negotiating with suppliers and subcontractors to secure the best terms and prices. Additionally, you would monitor variations to the contract, assess their impact on costs, and provide advice to the project team on commercial matters. Your role would be integral to ensuring the financial success of the project while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance with regulations.
