Regional Transport Operations Manager (Southern Region)

Remote role with extensive travel. Sites in Essex, Wiltshire, Hampshire, Gloucestershire.

As part of its continued growth journey, this award-winning, sustainability-focused national logistics business is searching for a talented Regional Transport Operations Manager. In this pivotal role, you’ll oversee and optimise all transport operations across the company’s southern region. You will play a key role in ensuring efficient and cost-effective transportation of goods, managing a team of professionals, and implementing strategies to enhance performance, safety, and customer satisfaction – all aligned with our company's strategic goals.

What You'll Do:

* Lead and Optimize: You'll be responsible for leading a team of transport managers, supervisors, and drivers, overseeing daily operations, and implementing strategies to continuously improve efficiency, safety, and customer service.

* Safety First: Your commitment to safety will be paramount. You'll develop and implement safety policies, manage training programs, investigate incidents, and collaborate with other departments to build a best-in-class safety culture across the region.

* Customer Focus: Excellent customer service is key. You'll oversee customer service operations, develop strategies to enhance the customer experience, and manage escalated issues to ensure customer satisfaction.

* People Management: You'll be responsible for talent development within your region. This includes recruitment, retention, performance management, and training. You'll also foster a positive and supportive work environment for your team.

* Financial Acumen: You'll develop and implement strategies to optimise revenue and profitability within your region. This includes budget management, financial analysis, KPI monitoring, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.

* Strategic & Analytical: You'll be a strategic thinker with strong analytical skills. You'll develop and implement tactical initiatives, analyse data to identify trends and opportunities, and provide actionable insights to senior management.

Who You Are:

* A seasoned professional with extensive experience in managing transport operations at a senior level.

* Proven track record of leading teams and driving financial performance.

* Experience managing budgets and P&Ls.

* Strong understanding of transport management systems and relevant software applications.

* Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.

* A passion for safety, continuous improvement, and building a positive work environment.

* National CPC holder (Essential)

Bonus Points:

* Experience managing in a large site-based transport operation.

* Understanding of central transport functions and supporting local site teams.

* Demonstrated ability to implement process and procedural improvements.
