The vacancy
Here at Peabody, we have an opportunity for a Housing Support Worker on a permanent, part time basis (22.5 hours) at our scheme based in Clacton-on-Sea.
Your typical day would be dynamic and will involve balancing hands-on support for residents, administrative tasks, and collaboration with external services. Your responsibilities may include conducting inspections of residents’ accommodations to find any necessary repairs or safety issues. Regular welfare checks on the residents you help are essential, considering their individual support plans and safety assessments, which require ongoing updates. You may also need to address safeguarding issues to protect residents from harm, abuse, or neglect. Additionally, helping residents with benefit applications and coordinating group or one-on-one activities may be part of your duties.
What we’re looking for: Could this be you?
* Talented in building relationships.
* Empathetic nature.
* Exceptional listening abilities.
* Tactful, with the skill to manage and calm challenging situations.
* Non-judgemental
* Proactive and confident in taking the initiative.
If so, this role is perfect for you!
We are looking for candidates who have experience in engaging with vulnerable individuals. Knowledge or experience in safeguarding, understanding trauma-informed principles, and managing challenging behaviours is greatly valued.
A bit about the role:
Your goal is to guide our residents (who are young mothers) towards securing a place on the housing register or finding appropriate rental properties. As a Housing Support Worker, you will manage a group of residents with complex needs, offering them the practical and emotional support necessary to regain their independence. Given the complexity of their needs, it’s crucial to establish consistent, trusting relationships, ensuring they feel secure and supported. This role demands empathy, excellent listening skills, a non-judgmental attitude, and the ability to recognise and respond to potential issues. You must be capable of working autonomously, navigating, and defusing difficult situations to prevent escalation.
This role will require an Enhanced DBS check.
