Procurement Specialist (12 month fixed term contract)

Jackson Hogg Procurement are delighted to be working on an exclusive basis with a leading business in Middlesbrough on the appointment of a Procurement Specialist to join their team on a fixed term contract basis for 12 months.

Reporting into the Head of Procurement, this role will provide a comprehensive procurement service to achieve maximum value and to best procurement practice in support of the company’s business objectives. You will work with stakeholders from specification stage to tendering, negotiation of contracts and the deploying of contracts.

Hours can be flexible between an 08:00-09:00 start, working a 35 hour week with 2-3 days hybrid working on offer! Other benefits include 6% matched pension and 25 days holiday plus bank hols.

The Role

* Lead and execute sourcing projects aimed at reducing cost, minimising risk and optimising business processes for operating goods and services including those commodities that that fall into the Utilities Contracts Regulations 2016 (UCR16).

* Provide Procurement lead to develop and deliver capital sourcing projects including capital projects

* Develop and implement sourcing plans/strategies for commodities as assigned, considering situation analysis, company objectives, key industry market and economic trends.

* Encourage and influence stakeholders to ensure key spend categories including capital are directed through the central Procurement function.

* Negotiate contracts with suppliers, ensuring favourable contractual terms and conditions and specifications, deliverables and performance metrics are clear and can be easily quantified.

* Work with the legal function to construct the necessary contractual arrangements to ensure all contractual terms and conditions are approved and corporate risk is minimised.

* Establish internal relationships with all business units, identifying key areas for review driven by stakeholder requirements and to ensure common procurement requirements are leveraged across the business units.

* Conduct supplier performance evaluation reviews with key suppliers

* Mediate issues between stakeholders and suppliers as required.

* Provision of specialist procurement support and advice to employees regularly involved in procurement activities.

* Support the development and ongoing operation of the procurement systems to leverage efficiencies.

The Person/Specification

* Available within a 1 week notice and able to commit to a 12 month fixed term contract position

* Minimum 5 years working in a procurement role in delivering sourcing projects, driving cost savings and negotiating improved commercial terms and conditions.

* Self-starter with excellent commercial acumen, ability to work cross-functionally and the ability to drive change across all levels of the company.

* IT sourcing experience is beneficial but not essential.

* Working knowledge of negotiating terms and conditions and construction of supplier contracts.

* Sound numerical skills are essential with the ability to gather and analyse data.

* Proficiency in managing multiple work activities simultaneously in a heavy workload environment.

* Strong negotiation and contracting skills

* Good written and oral communication skills

* Solid interpersonal skills

* Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
