BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT EXECUTIVE / MANAGER

As a New Business Development Manager you must have a proven track record, with a minimum of 3 years' experience winning new business. Working for an established industrial supplies specialist you will be confident selling products in a B2B environment and just as familiar with prospecting over the phone and online as well as in face-to-face meetings.

Knowledge of utilities, transportation, manufacturing or engineering sectors is an advantage, however your attitude and your hunger to succeed is a must.

You will thrive on taking control of your sales pipeline, this is strictly a New Business role not Account Management. As one of the first people a prospective customer meets you must be professional, articulate and engaging, representing our brand to the highest standard at all times. You will be driven to succeed, confident communicating at all levels, from making cold calls to presenting to Heads of Procurement from large blue-chip organisations. Using both field-based sales and tele-sales activities you will acquire new, retain existing and re-active lapsed accounts to support business growth.

Salary:

£35,000 - £40,000 (Plus Commission)

Responsibilities:

1. Identification of new market sectors and potential customers, developing and maintaining a targeted sales pipeline to consistently initiate contact and win new business.

2. Producing and presenting tailored quotations and proposals to meet customer needs and profitability targets.

3. Liaising with relevant departments, including the product and commercial teams, to obtain information and advice about products, services and promotions.

4. Using market awareness and product knowledge to provide prospective customers with detailed information and compelling proposals to secure new accounts.

5. Negotiating sales and contractual terms of business, using pricing structures to win and maintain profitable long-term accounts.

6. Regularly updating company systems, detailing prospecting work conducted, sales pipeline and outcomes. 7. Where required, travelling to appointments across the UK as required, with up to two nights away per week.

Requirements:

1. Proven experience in new business development, or lead generating sales role.

2. Proof of achievement of financial objectives and targets through securing new business.

3. Experience selling products in a Business to Business (B2B) environment.

4. A degree or HND level qualification.

5. Ability to work with and develop business opportunities across and within multiple market sectors (i.e. Utilities, Manufacturing, Transportation, Defence).

To be successful you must have:

1. Excellent communication skills (including persuasion, negotiation and influencing)

3. Sound commercial awareness and financial understanding

4. Strategic prospecting and objection management skills

5. Strong organisation, planning and time management skills

6. A flexible approach, good resilience and an ability to work under pressure

7. Strong IT skills (i.e. Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint)
