CAD Designer
Permanent role in Stockport
Responsible for the delivery of engineering projects on time and on cost your role will be to produce and maintain technical drawings & engineering department documentation.
You will use CAD and PDM software to produce 3D models and assemblies, 2D technical drawings and also where necessary 3D animations and simulations for Virtual Reality Software.
You will be integral to the delivery of engineering designs for existing products, new product development and maintaining legacy design data.
Your role will focus on detailed definition of designs for manufacturing and also supporting other business functions with technical information.
Main Duties
Produce detailed, technical drawings for design solutions withing the Engineering Design team.
Check, Edit and Maintain drawings and other Technical Documentation.
Prepare technical documents such as specifications, reports, manuals, procedures etc.
Support development and testing.
Compile technical documents and test specifications.
Interpret technical specifications.
Liaise with suppliers and purchasing functions to provide the most up to date and accurate design information and technical details.
Provide support for the production, test and field engineering teams.
Support the sales team with bids and quotations.
Required Experience
Qualified to HND level in relevant engineering subject or higher.
Experienced in using CAD, PDM or Virtual Reality software packages inc. Solid Edge, AutoCAD, Inventor, Solid Works, Siemens NX, Pro Engineer or similar.
Relevant experience of working within an Engineering Team or Design Department.
Proven experience in detailed design drawings and documentation.
Proven experience of CAD and PDM software.
Understanding CAD and other Software file formats.
Knowledge and Experience of PDM administration.
Proven experience of BoM management and configuration.
Knowledge and use of Geometrical Tolerances, ISO and ASME technical drawing standards.
Desirable – but not essential
Knowledge of applications for materials and engineering processes.
Testing and development of mechanical systems.
Medium to heavy engineering experience.
Understanding of the behaviour of large welded and bolted mechanical structures
