Pertemps are supporting a local client who are seeking to appoint 2 additional Senior Housing Benefit officers for their Harrow team.

Primary Role:
Collaborate with internal teams (HITS, CAFT, Access Harrow, Revenues, Finance, Adults and Housing) and external partners (DWP) to achieve delivery and performance objectives.
Facilitate process improvements in response to technical requirements from the external partners
Stay informed on regulations and guidelines, such as:
Housing Benefit (General) Regulations 1987
Council Tax Benefit (General) Regulations 1992
The Social Security and Child Support (Decisions and Appeals) Regulations 2001
Rent Officers (Housing Benefit Functions) Order 1997
The H B and C T B (State Pension Credit) Regulations 2003
National Assistance (Assessment of Resources) Regulations 1992

Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive assessments for complex cases, including home visits, to determine entitlements and contributions.
Handle intricate calculations for Housing Benefit and Council Tax Benefit, particularly for self-employed individuals and students.
Manage claims related to Registered Social Landlords, Housing Tenants, and Council Tax Benefit.
Oversee assessments for Fairer Charging, Supporting People, Respite Care, Residential Care, and concessionary fares, adhering to relevant regulations.
Ensure best practices, statutory requirements, and the Verification Framework are met, while leveraging technology to enhance customer experience.

Candidate Profile:
Proactive and independent worker, capable of navigating a high-pressure environment with shifting priorities.
Proficient understanding of current and emerging technologies, with an eye for their practical applications.
Comprehensive knowledge of Housing and Council Tax Benefits legislation.
Familiarity with Social Security and Child Support Regulations, CRAG, and Pension Regulations.
At least 3 years of experience in a Housing Benefits office setting.
