Job Description:

Working in a Multi/Interdisciplinary Team providing occupational therapy input within the BIRT neurobehavioural model to those we support who with acquired brain injury (ABI).  Liaising with internal and external professionals, family members and those in our care.

Working within a specialist clinical area as an autonomous professional, using and developing skills and knowledge in neurological rehabilitation and supported by a Senior Occupational Therapist, you will manage and support a caseload of people with complex mental / physical health needs or challenging behaviour.   

Key Responsibilities:

Supported and supervision by a Senior OT, you will complete the OT process and to use evidence based/service user centred principles and clinical reasoning to assess, formulate treatment plans, implement and evaluate intervention.
You will address occupational performance and skill deficits enabling the service user in areas of self-maintenance, productivity, education and leisure.

Developing programmes of care, you will ensure adequate and detailed handover of programmes to rehabilitation support workers or therapy assistants, monitor through data gathering, evaluate and modify treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention according to the neurobehavioural model.
Using effective interpersonal skills and empathy, you’ll engage with those we support  who may be resistant to the rehabilitation process or may be in distress.
Whilst carrying out detailed risk assessments, you will ensure that these regular reviews and updates and communicate with the team effectively.

Requirements:

Knowledge and application of occupational therapy assessments (standardised and non-standardised) & intervention.
Understanding of occupational therapy outcome measures and models of practice.
An understanding of current legislation and policies affecting clinical area and professional practice.
Experience of working in a multi / inter disciplinary team.
Preferred qualifications:

Educated to Degree level Occupational Therapy.

Registered with HCPC.
