is excited to present an excellent opportunity for an experienced Payroll Assistant to join an award-winning accountancy practice.

This permanent, full-time/part-time role is available in their Axminster, Bideford, Exeter, Plymouth, or Weston-Super-Mare offices, offering flexibility and the chance to be part of a well-established and reputable organisation.

As a Payroll Assistant, you will be responsible for processing payroll from end to end, utilising your strong understanding of payroll operations.

Payroll Assistant Responsibilities:

Collecting, compiling, and entering payroll data using appropriate software
Calculating and posting payroll deductions
Processing payroll by established deadlines
Reconciling employee deductions
Investigating and correcting payroll discrepancies and errors
Updating payroll records, including changes related to auto-enrolment pensions, loan payments, and salary increases
Processing new employees, terminations, and transfers
Calculating holiday entitlement
Preparing and printing payroll reports for earnings, hours worked, PAYE tax, National Insurance, auto-enrolment pension, and holiday
Addressing employee pay-related concerns and providing accurate payroll information
Developing, managing, and maintaining comprehensive payroll records
Ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations and guidelines
Assisting with general office administration duties as required

Payroll Assistant Requirements:

Experience in payroll processing
CIPP qualification (preferred but not essential, as qualified by experience will also be considered)
Good working knowledge of Word, Excel, Brightpay, Xero, QuickBooks, and Sage
Experience in a practice-based environment (preferred but not essential)
Analytical, methodical, and numerical skills
Positive attitude, friendly, and personable
Initiative, prioritisation, and ability to meet deadlines in a pressured environment
Professional and team-oriented approach
Experience in delivering exceptional customer service in an office-based working environment
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with proven accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to quickly learn new IT skills
