PE Global Healthcare is looking for a Registered Manager (Residential Children’s Home ) based in Bristol. Its a full time permanent job with great salary and benefits

Responsibilities

• To ensure that the home and staff operate in full accordance with all statutory, regulatory and standards requirements including: I. Children Acts 1989 & 2004 II. Care Standards Act 2000 III. Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 IV. Working Together to Safeguard Children (2023, et al.)

• To ensure that all children and young people have their needs met, their welfare promoted at all times and that they are safeguarded from any harm abuse, neglect, exploitation, etc.

• To understand, embrace and promote the Dyadic Developmental Practice (DDP) model of care, ensuring it is embedded throughout all areas of the home in line with values, the DDP framework and the Statement of Purpose (SoP)

• To be responsible for the development, control, coordination, and support of the staff group

• To supervise the Deputy Manager, enabling them to supervise and support the staff team

• To be responsible for ensuring that effective records are maintained in accordance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015, and associated legislation and standards • To be responsible for all aspects of budgetary control relating to the home

• To be responsible for ensuring that effective rotas are prepared, followed and provide an on-call rota, ensuring that staff on rota have sufficient skills, knowledge and experience to keep the children safe from harm

• To ensure staff respond to any childcare concerns appropriately, including having full regard to the condition that the welfare of children and young people must remain paramount

• To hold regular staff meetings and to keep staff fully informed of PCM policy and practices

• To ensure that the building, equipment, and furniture is well maintained and well presented. The home must be clean and tidy, with high standards of cleanliness and hygiene

• To ensure Health & Safety procedures and protocols are fully maintained

• To ensure that an Area and Location Risk Assessment (ALRA) is maintained and reviewed on a least an annual basis, capturing the views feelings of children and young people placed (about their experiences of the area) as part of that process

• To ensure that an independent Regulation 44 visitor maintains regular and timely visits to the home, to provide and independent opinion of the effectiveness of the home in safeguarding children and young people and promoting their welfare

• To maintain a commitment to continuous improvement in all aspects of care within the home

QUALIFICATIONS

• Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Health and Social Care (Children and Young People). Please note: If you have not attained a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) (“the Level 5 Diploma”) or a qualification which the registered provider considers to be equivalent to the Level 5 Diploma, it is essential that a commitment is made to complete a Level 5 within three years of starting in post as a registered manager

• Relevant qualification or course attendance certificates • Good standard of secondary education, including English and Mathematics

• Current valid UK Driving Licence and business motor insurance

EXPERIENCE

● A minimum of 5 years’ experience of working with children and young people

● A minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with children and young people in a senior role

● Worked for at least one year in a role requiring the supervision and management of staff working in a care role

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

• Detailed, in-depth knowledge of legislation and good practice regarding the care of vulnerable children and young people

• Dyadic Developmental Practice (DDP) Framework for Therapy and Parenting developmentally traumatised children

• Understanding of adolescent development and attachment theories • A therapeutic working ethos underpinned by academic research

• A working knowledge of 360 performance reviews

• Exceptional presentation skills

• High standard of further and higher education

• A firm understanding of the importance of research-based practice, innovation, and creativity
