Maintenance Assistant - Mechanical / Electrical

Location: Berkshire Independent Hospital, Reading, RG1 6UZ

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Full-time

Salary: Depending on Experience + Benefits + Paid On-call Rates

We currently have a great opportunity for a Maintenance Assistant with mechanical or electrical experience to join the dedicated team at Berkshire Independent Hospital based in Reading.

Summary:

The Berkshire Independent Hospital is one of Berkshire’s leading private hospitals with an excellent reputation for delivering high quality healthcare, treatments and services. The hospital, built in 1993, has 43 individual patient rooms all with en suite facilities. By investing in advanced medical technology, the hospital offers a wide range of treatments and services. The three fully equipped theatres with a seven-bedded recovery area are particularly suitable for orthopaedic procedures offered, such as arthroscopy, hip and knee replacement, spinal discectomy. A dedicated day surgery suite is suitable for minor surgery and endoscopy.

The role:

As a Maintenance Assistant you will be required with assisting with day to day mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks and reactive repairs with the main focus on maintaining and ensuring compliance throughout hospital. You will also be undertaking PPMs (Planned Preventative Maintenance) and general repairs at the hospital.

As a Maintenance Assistant (Mechanical/Electrical) you will be required to be on-call, one week in four, with paid on-call rates in addition to base pay.

What you’ll bring with you:

Experience as a tradesperson or electrical maintenance engineer

City & Guilds Qualification - part 1 and part 2 mechanical or electrical qualification

NVQ Level 3 - desirable

Understanding of Health and Safety

Good fault-finding skills

An organised approach with an ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team

Ability to work to deadlines

A passion to deliver excellent standards of work.
