Job Description for Assistant FOH Manager

Our client is currently seeking a dedicated and proactive individual to join their Catering Team. The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a senior supervisory role within the hospitality industry and be looking to advance their career in a larger operation. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the Front of House Manager and overseeing all catering services. Duties include upholding service standards, creating staff schedules, managing department administration, conducting stocktakes, coordinating running sheets, providing training, and ensuring health and safety compliance. The successful candidate will need to exhibit flexibility, confidence, courtesy, a calm demeanour, and adaptability. Additionally, strong physical fitness and excellent English communication skills are essential. This position will involve working a rotating shift schedule, including mornings and evenings on alternate weeks, as well as some weekends. Occasional additional hours or weekend work may be required.

Responsibilities:

Ensure that services provided meet or exceed the expectations of staff members and conference delegates.

Maintain service for each meal period according to agreed standards, while adhering to food hygiene regulations and accurately implementing dietary requirements and allergens.

Make recommendations to enhance service standards in response to the evolving needs of the business and its clientele.

Coordinate and supervise each meal period, assigning staff based on service demands.

Monitor staff appearance, ensuring they are properly attired and meet the approved standards of dress.

Set tables, arrange seating, and prepare for meal service. Assist staff physically when needed.

Ensure cleanliness and organisation in service areas at the conclusion of each meal period.

Communicate effectively and proactively with other departments as necessary.

Anticipate and respond to the needs of staff members and guests to maximize their satisfaction during events.

Drive the catering department van for off-site events when authorised.

Ensure that function rooms are appropriately set up and arranged according to standards. Coordinate directly with event organisers during conference dinners.

Responsible for overseeing catering services in the absence of the Front of House Manager by promptly responding to emails and preparing schedules within budgetary limits.

Conduct monthly stock audits

Maintain accurate records of staff hours worked and prepare payroll information for Accounts

Manage internal and external catering bookings and coordinate orders from initial receipt to delivery

Assist with administrative tasks for the Catering Administrator and Front of House Manager

Collaborate with the Financial Controller on financial reporting and work with Supervisors to deploy staff effectively

Deputise for the for the Front of House Manager when needed

Support staff training on food hygiene, allergen awareness, and health & safety compliance

Develop and implement a cleaning schedule for catering facilities

Collaborate with chefs and staff to ensure dietary information is accurate and meals are prepared safely.

Ensure staff adhere to hygiene, food safety, and other regulations, and monitor temperature control and maintenance issues

Ensure personal data processing aligns with data protection policy

Employees may be required to perform additional duties or work extra hours as needed.

Salary: from £31,992 per annum

Working Hours: 40 hours per week

The position is required to work any 5 out of 7 days per week.
From time to time a late finish may be required.

Annual Leave: 38 days per year (including Bank Holidays)
