UV Flexographic Printer

We have an exciting opportunity to join a multi-award-winning labels and flexible packaging company based in Leeds, working as an experienced UV Flexographic Printer.
The business works with some of the most famous household brands in the world, manufacturing packaging for products that we can guarantee are in your kitchen cupboards right now.
Due to continued growth, we’re looking for someone with experience of running (at a minimum) a 6 colour narrow web press.
The shift pattern for this role is triple shifts – you’ll do 1 week on each on a rotating basis:
6am-2pm Mon-Fri / 2pm-10pm Mon-Fri / 10pm-6am Sun-Thu
The Role:
Identify & understand the print specification for each job
Locate correct materials relating to individual job cards
Ensure plates are mounted correctly
Ensure inks are mixed to the correct colour match using the equipment provided
Thread web through machine following correct route, set ink, varnish & register
Setting of clock / counter for final reelage
Setting of machine tensions for specific materials using controls
Carrying out in process inspections, visual checks & highlighting any print faults
Ensuring that all operations are carried out and complete necessary paperwork /Job cards completed to ISO standards as outlined in company manuals
Responsibility for keeping a clean & organized working environment in accordance with the BRC/IoP requirements
Working to strict deadlines whilst maintaining quality control
Responsible for checking off other printer’s 1st off reels
Contribute to a work environment that fosters pride in being part of a winning team and promotes personal growth
To communicate fully with all relevant parties and assist whenever issues arise relating to your specific area of responsibility within the department
To respond professionally and efficiently to any contact with inertial/external customers.
The Candidate:
Proven experience as a flexographic printer with knowledge of either Nilpeter, Gallus, MPS or Mark Andy UV presses, either within the flexible packaging or labels industry
A good eye for detail
Have strong organisational skills and the ability to work with initiative
Be calm, level-headed, and be able to work under pressure and meet production deadlines
Be flexible and able to make decisions quickly
Be comfortable working in a hands-on, practical situation
Computer literate
A flexible attitude towards overtime including the occasional weekend work / shift cover
