Position Overview:We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting strategic decision-making. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data and supporting documentation.
General Ledger Management: Maintain the general ledger and chart of accounts. Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
Financial Analysis: Conduct variance analysis and provide insights into key financial metrics. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities to support management decision-making.
Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts. Monitor budget variances and provide explanations for significant deviations.
Revenue Recognition: Review contracts and transactions to ensure proper revenue recognition in compliance with accounting standards (ASC 606). Work closely with sales and operations teams to address revenue-related issues.
Accounts Payable and Receivable: Oversee the accounts payable and accounts receivable processes. Review vendor invoices, customer invoices, and payments for accuracy and completeness.
Payroll Processing: Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll. Review payroll reports and reconcile payroll-related accounts.
Tax Compliance: Assist in the preparation of tax returns and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations. Coordinate with external tax advisors as needed.
Internal Controls: Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Implement recommendations from internal and external audits.
Team Leadership: Mentor and train junior accounting staff. Provide guidance and support to foster their professional growth and development.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA designation preferred.
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and integrity.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate across functional teams.
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment.
