Practice Nurse

We are seeking an experienced Practice Nurse to join our client's team based in Stockport SK3 and SK4 postcodes.

As a Practice Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality healthcare services to patients. You will be responsible for managing chronic diseases, administering vaccinations and immunisations, performing cervical screenings, and providing wound care, among other general treatment room duties. You will also support the nursing team, including healthcare assistants, and oversee infection control standards and cold chain compliance.

About the client:-
They are a large, friendly teaching GP practice with over 14,000 patients and a team of enthusiastic, multi-disciplinary staff.

Main Duties:
- Proficient in chronic disease management (Diabetes, COPD, Asthma, CHD/CVD), vaccinations, immunisations, cervical screening, contraceptive reviews, wound care including compression, and other general treatment room duties.
- Provide support to the nursing team, including healthcare assistants.
- Oversee infection control standards and cold chain compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
- Participate in annual appraisals and clinical/practice meetings.
- Administer adult and child immunisations, ensuring full achievement of targets.
- Perform venepuncture, electrocardiography, and wound care/management.
- Manage leg ulcers, including dopplers and compression bandaging.
- Provide lifestyle advice and support to patients.
- Recognise signs of abuse, violence, and other vulnerabilities, and refer appropriately.
- Ensure current evidence-based approaches to patient care are standard practice.
- Apply infection control measures and handle emergencies effectively.
- Audit outcomes of care and initiate necessary changes.

Qualifications (Essential):
- Nursing degree or relevant nursing qualification granting a professional license to practice primary care nursing.
- Qualified in chronic disease management for Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, and CHD/CVD.
- Cervical screening qualification.
- Proficient in venepuncture and electrocardiography.
- Wound dressing and leg compressions.

Qualifications (Desirable):
- Experience working in a GP practice.
- Experience with Emis Web.
- Independent prescribing qualification.
- Stable career history showing clear commitment and progression.

Experience (Essential):
- Highly experienced Practice Nurse with a positive attitude.
- Ability to multitask with strong planning and organisational skills.
- Excellent communication and telephone skills.
- Experienced in chronic disease management, cervical screening, vaccinations, injections, immunisations, and wound care management.
- Experienced in overseeing infection control systems and maintaining cold chain compliance.
