Role profile:

Joining this small but flourishing biotech organisation, you will be responsible for microbiology, cell and immunology screening assays (primarily ELISA) to inform understanding around the organisation's proprietary molecules in vitro.

This position will be both rewarding and challenging and will draw on your skills and experiences from previous laboratory-based roles; your aptitude for delivering against stringent deadlines and your ability to collaborate and communicate effectively in a small and busy team.

Role responsibilities:

Running routine micro and immunology cell screening assays (namely ELISA) to understand efficacy of novel compounds (using flow cytometry, ELISA and SPR binding for example)

Plan and carry out experiments to ascertain efficacy and mechanism of action of novel agents

Plan projects, DoE and interrogation of experimental result data

Updating and maintaining accurate LIMS, contributing to reports, presentations, team meetings, publications and SOPs

Responsible for care of bacterial cultures and mammalian cell lines

Planning and carrying out immuno-assays to evaluate efficacy and mechanism of novel agents

Updating and collaboration with the team and your line manager regarding progress of the various projects in scope

Provide coaching and support to more junior members of the team

Your background:

MSc or PhD or equivalent in a Biological discipline relevant to the immunology/infection disease sector

Demonstrable technical skillset in a range of immunology and immunoassay techniques such as flow cytometry, immune cell isolation and cell culture, ELISA, cell reporter assays, antibody binding assays - SPR/BLI, and cell imaging.

Good aseptic technique.

Ideally you come with experience of working in a BSL2 Lab and handling of hazard group 2 pathogens

Strong understanding of lab health and safety, record keeping and a meticulous approach to your work

Good command of MS Office packages including Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams along with experience of working with databases and software to monitor data

Good attention to detail, methodical and able to work independently with minimal supervision; collaborative and enjoys working in a small and cohesive team environment
