Situation: The Civils & Infrastructure division at Ford & Stanley are proud to be working with one of the rail industry's most exciting rail consultancies. My client are looking for an Senior Commercial specialist (Senior Quantity Surveyor or Senior Commercial Manager) to take the reins of the day-to-day commercial operations (client side) across a number of rail projects such as Rugby Parkway project & Welborne Railway Station project.

Responsibilities of the role:

Lead a team of quantity surveyors working on rail projects and providing guidance and support as needed to internal and external customers.
Collaborating with project managers, rail engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure rail project objectives are met.
To provide procurement advice and work with customers to develop estimates, tender documentation, process and evaluation tools.
To provide technical support on contract interpretation, negotiation and wider commercial strategies for internal and external customers.
To lead and continuously improve change management, commercial forecasting and reporting, working closely with other functions.
Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and contractual obligations, including those specific to rail infrastructure and government procurement processes.
To seek out opportunities to add value in customer delivery and future propositions.
Location: Birmingham with hybrid working (occasional site visits)

Who would be right for the role?

Essential: 5+ years of quantity surveying experience

Essential: Rail experience would be beneficial, civils (NEC) experience as a minimum

Essential: Well-rounded commercial acumen, having managed a project from implementation through to final accounts

Essential: Demonstrable team leadership experience

Essential: BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent qualification

Desirable: Associate or Chartered Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)

£50,000 to £70,000 basic salary
