An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Electro Motive Diesel team as a Technical Trainer. There is a role available in both Doncaster and Stoke on Trent.

As a Technical Trainer, you will work closely with other leaders across the business to expand overall competency levels and help future-proof the business through the development of our most important asset; our people. You will provide technical training and upskilling to new and existing employees, develop and enhance training materials and mentor apprentices.

The role will include:

Deliver trainings on a range of technical topics in both classroom and hands-on environments
Take ownership of the new starter training process, ensuring new joiners are signed-off and competent against each task
Develop and deliver meaningful on-loco learning activities to support classroom content
Proactively define and communicate a training calendar to main stakeholders, ensuring training sessions are deployed throughout all depots across all shifts in a cost-effective manner
Mentor / shadow all staff members on specific tasks where a gap is identified until deemed competent
Support in the creation of task or topic specific training material
Perform competency assessments as and when required
Coordinate all apprentice training across the business, acting as main point of contact for learners and training providers and ensuring apprentices are trained effectively and progress towards the timely completion of their End Point Assessment
Regular reporting of training activity to main stakeholders What we would love you to bring to the role:

This role will be ideal for an experienced locomotive technician with a strong appetite in developing others and imparting knowledge. Your technical experience, interpersonal skills and self-starter attitude will be key attributes to be successful in the role. You will ideally hold an Engineering degree and Assessor credentials. You will also need a valid driving license and flexibility to travel to other sites when required.
Demonstrable experience of locomotive maintenance and fault-finding
Understanding of the sequence of the build process of repower locomotives and overhaul for all heavy maintenance activities
Confident in reading and understanding engineering drawings and specs
In depth understanding of VMOs and VOIs
Solid communication and facilitation / presentation skills
Highly collaborative at all levels
