The Foreman is responsible for coordinating all job site activities, including personnel, equipment, materials, and subcontractors, in accordance with established company policies, contractual obligations, prints and specifications, rules and regulations, in such a way as to foster safe, high quality work, good customer relations, and profitability for Brubacher Excavating, Inc.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Personnel:  Trains, coaches, and effectively coordinates assigned personnel on job sites; serves as a communication link between the employees and their direct manager.  Provides site orientation to new employees.
Safety:  Maintains familiarity with all rules, regulations, and policies related to safety; promotes the prevention of incidents; investigates and reports incidents; maintains required information and documents; and enforces compliance with all rules and regulations.  Must be competent in basic first aid and CPR and maintain a first aid kit on the job site.
Technical Competencies:  Reviews plans and blueprints, contract terms and conditions, and specifications, so as to efficiently and effectively execute high quality work in the most cost effective sequence and manner; possesses full working knowledge of equipment, work force and materials capabilities; has a working knowledge of soils science; reads and computes grades, and set grades off cut sheets; has sufficient knowledge to accurately calculate quantities; and provides input for value added engineering (less expensive and/or more efficient ways of doing things.)  Possesses basic skills to operate a laptop computer, printer and fax machine in an efficient and effective manner.
Public Relations:  Addresses customer inquiries and complaints in a professional and courteous manner; maintains positive relations with municipal and regulatory agencies; maintains the job site, and all equipment and personnel, in such a way as to foster a positive impression of Brubacher Excavating, Inc.; works harmoniously with other contractors and subcontractors sharing the job site; acts as a good "neighbor" and is concerned about inconvenience and disruption to area residents and the motoring public; makes every effort to keep customers happy without "giving away the store"; and refers all media inquiries to designated corporate officials.
Administrative:  Attends meetings as required, maintains documentation, and prepares daily job logs in a timely and accurate manner; plans and schedule project activities; develops familiarity with municipal rules and specifications; becoming familiar with all contract terms and conditions, scope of work, and special notes; maintain familiarity with all company policies and procedures; and maintains appropriate time, equipment and materials records.
Equipment Utilization and Maintenance:  Coordinates the operation of equipment so as to maximize efficiency and sustain the life of the equipment; schedules the performance of routine maintenance and to follows up to ensure completion; reports necessary equipment repairs; ensures that equipment is used safely and in the manner for which it is intended; and implements security of all equipment, including small tools. Responsible for daily transportation to the job site.
 Profitability:  Maintains a working knowledge of the designated scope of work so as to recognize when the company is working outside the scope of the contract and communicates such situations so additional billings can be pursued; reviews the project budget; monitors job costs and productivity; avoids the need for rework by "doing it right the first time”; offers input regarding cost savings, efficiency enhancements, and encourages input from employees; and seeks out, identifies and corrects project problems and technical faults in a timely and cost effective manner.
Overall:  Performs these and other duties, as assigned, in such a way as to contribute to the overall success and perpetuation of Brubacher Excavating, Inc. and all of its personnel products and services.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Requires five years of "hands-on" experience covering all duties and responsibilities associated with a variety of job sites. 
Basic computer skills.       
Basic understanding of OSHA standards.
