Position: Climbing Arborist

Job Overview:

We are seeking skilled Arborists for a 2-year project working in South Wales and the Weston region on Network Rail (NWR) projects. The work will involve various locations, requiring flexibility and mobility. Candidates will ideally provide their own chainsaws and climbing kits. Accommodation may be considered for the right candidates. The work schedule includes nights, days, and weekends, and availability for weekend shifts is crucial; failure to be available for weekend work may result in loss of shifts on midweek projects. This is an excellent opportunity for dedicated arborists to work on high-profile projects in a dynamic and challenging environment.

Key Responsibilities:

- Prune, trim, and shape trees for aesthetic and safety purposes.

- Remove dead or diseased trees and limbs.

- Use climbing equipment such as ropes, harnesses

- Operate and maintain chainsaws, pruning saws, and other tree surgery tools.

- Implement safety measures to protect self, team, and the public.

Qualifications:

- Proficiency in climbing techniques and use of climbing equipment.

- Forestry First Aid qualification.

- NPTC (National Proficiency Tests Council) tickets, including:

- Chainsaw maintenance and cross-cutting (CS30)

- Felling and processing trees (CS31)

- Climbing and aerial rescue (CS38)

- Aerial cutting using free-fall techniques (CS39)

- Use of woodchippers (CS41)

- Use of brushcutters (CS47)

- Use of hedge trimmers (CS48)

- Use of strimmer’s (CS49)

- PTS (Personal Track Safety) card preferred; training can be provided.

- Strong physical fitness and stamina.

- Ability to work at heights and in varying weather conditions
