Orion are partnered with our blue-sky thinking client, whose innovative and dynamic approach has yielded huge success in the Renewable Energy Sector. Their patented technology has enabled them to reach colossal heights, becoming the supplier of choice to some of the biggest names within highly regulated industries. 

As they continue on this journey, they have identified the need to embed an additional Laboratory Team Leader into their Analytical and QC Department. This is a brand new vacancy for our client and arguably their most important hire of 2024.

Monday to Friday hours - this role will only need to operate across Monday to Friday and within a normal 9-5 hour pattern.

What will you be doing as their newly appointed Laboratory Team Leader?

Supervising and supporting a team of Quality Lab Technicians, initially they will appoint 3 team members for you to mentor/supervise but this will increase as you embed into the business. 

Oversee and take a proactive approach to work-flow management, designating tasks to individuals in line with priority/needs of the department 

Contributing to the team members 1-2-1 appraisals which take place monthly. 

Maintain a hands on approach! You will not just be looking after the team, but also working with them using a variety of analytical laboratory equipment

Collaborate with the Head of Science on Continuous Improvement ideas and plans. 

What do you need to be able to demonstrate in order to be shortlisted?

A minimum of 3 years working in a Laboratory environment and at Team Leader, Supervisor level - you will need to demonstrate that you have supervised and led a team in a laboratory environment (please note this is a deal-breaker  for our client!) 

A strong working knowledge of working within highly regulated environments where COSHH is applicable. 

Advantageous if you have worked in a chemical engineering environment but not a deal breaker - if you have worked in Pharma, BioPharma, Cell and Gene or Medical Technology this could easily be transferred

Able to comfortably commute to the stated location - there is no hybrid/remote working available due to the nature of work.
