Payroll Assistant required in Southampton, Hampshire! 

Basic Salary: From £23,000 - £25,000
Monday to Friday 08:30 - 17:00 (part time hours considered)

You will be working within a well performing accounts team, with a brilliant reputation for quality car making.
They are currently seeking a payroll assistant preferably with motor trade experience and passion for all things automotive.
This role would suit individuals with accounts/payroll experience or an interest within working within the automotive payroll sector. They require individuals with high attention to detail, ability to spot discrepancies and errors, alongside excellent communication skills.

Process payroll on a regular basis for employees.
Liaise with the payroll manager to ensure the smooth running of payroll
Ensure accurate calculation of wages, bonuses, commissions, and deductions.
Verify timesheets and attendance records for completeness and accuracy.
Address any payroll-related inquiries or issues from employees promptly.
Prepare and distribute paychecks or direct deposits.
Maintain payroll operations by following policies and procedures; reporting needed changes.
Update payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and guidelines.
Assist with payroll tax filings and other compliance requirements.
Generate payroll reports for management review.
Maintain confidentiality of payroll information.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to payroll.What our client expects of their Payroll Assistant:

Ideally, proven experience in a similar position, preferably within the automotive industry
Strong knowledge of month-end processes and management 
Proficiency in balance sheet reconciliations and financial analysis
Familiarity with accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset management
Knowledge of tax regulations and year-end audit procedures
Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills
Advanced proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
