About Us

PSPA is the only UK charity providing support and information to people living with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) and Corticobasal Degeneration (CBD). These rapidly progressing neurological conditions are caused by the premature loss of nerve cells in certain parts of the brain, and like many other chronic conditions, there is currently no cure. However, many of the symptoms can be managed, and our mission is to provide everyone affected with PSP & CBD with information and support to enable them to lead the best possible life they can.

Raising awareness of these conditions amongst health and social care professionals since 1994, we also fund research into diagnosis and treatments, relying almost entirely on voluntary donations.

We are now looking for a Communications and Influencing Officer to join us on a full-time, permanent basis. You will work 35 hours per week, including occasional evenings and weekends.

The Role

As a Communications and Influencing Officer, you will deliver engaging content across our social media, digital and communications platforms.

Supporting the Communications team, you will help us grow our reach, promote awareness and increase fundraising support through a range of social media, website and influencing activities. You will communicate our services to a wide range of audiences, creating original content and supporting our efforts to campaign and influence at a national and local level.

Amplifying the voices of people affected by PSP & CBD, you will raise awareness of the conditions among healthcare professionals, governments, elected representatives, and the public, engaging new and existing supporters with our work.

Additionally, you will:

- Support public communications and public affairs engagement with key bodies
- Deliver our social media plan
- Create and edit original, informative, and engaging website content
- Plan, research, and write regular content for the volunteers blog
- Supporting the delivery of high-profile campaigns

About You

To be considered as a Communications and Influencing Officer, you will need:

- Experience of communicating key messages through digital media
- Experience of creating and editing website content
- Experience writing for multiple audiences and channels
- The ability to communicate complex information in a clear and concise way
- Excellent written communication skills
- Organisational skills
