Working in the Permitting & Regulatory Support Team, you will make a vital contribution to the environmental regulation and compliance of operational activities that can affect the environment. You will lead a team of technical specialists who are passionate about the Air & waste Permitting Sector.
You will have the opportunity to utilise your knowledge of this sector and contribute to the delivery of Air & Waste Permitting.
What you’ll be doing as an Environmental Permitting manager (air/waste)

Prioritise work within your team, including identifying opportunities for team development and escalating risks when necessary.
Ensure that the Company has all the necessary Air and Waste Environmental Permits in place 
Support in the delivery of the Industrial Emissions Directive - Anaerobic Digestion Sludge Centre Permitting.
Understand and interpret environmental legislation, Environment Agency or Industry guidance and apply it to operational situations such as new site investment & emerging technologies.

Ensure Compliance Assessment Reports are reviewed and responded to within the required timescales.
Ensure any requests for information relating to environmental permits, applications for permits, or Regulatory returns are provided to the Environment Agency within the required timescales.
Led the team in the negotiation with the Environment Agency regarding new environmental permits relating to any changes to existing permits whilst ensuring the interests of the company are protected.
Produce written papers or slide decks to brief internal stakeholders Senior Manager & the Exec.
Remote work format with occasional visits to the office in Reading approx. once a month 
Please note, that the internal title for this role is "Installations Manager".
What you should bring to the role

Solid background in people management 
Good knowledge of  environmental legislation  with a proven ability to understand & interpret environmental legislation & guidance and effectively communicate key messages
You must possess excellent communication and influencing skills as a big part of this role will be liaising with external parties and across different levels of stakeholders within the business, especially the Environment Agency. 
Preferably educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in a scientific or environmental discipline.
