Mechanical Design Engineer

Consilium Recruit are proudly supporting the R&D division of a privately owned international business. They are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team based in Essex on a permanent supporting mechanical design for a range of sectors.

Commutable from:  Basildon, Brentwood, Southend-on-Sea, Chelmsford, London 

Salary:  Negotiable based on experience + Excellent Benefits including Pension, Healthcare and Bonus  

The Role 

The Mechanical Design Engineer will be responsible for packages of mechanical design work including work for engine, propulsion, control systems and energy storage. Working as part of a thriving design team, you will 3D CAD packages, primarily Catia and SolidWorks to produce high quality and well researched engineering design content.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will ensure the designs are created aligned with business internal and external standards and have been effectively supported by a range of stakeholders from procurement, manufacturing, suppliers, and customers.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will participate in design reviews of existing content to support improvements to the existing products and identify opportunities to streamline the design process.  

The Person  

The successful candidate for the role will possess a degree or equivalent level qualification in an engineering discipline, ideally mechanically biased.

You will have proven expertise in 3D CAD and be well versed in producing 3D CAD content for moving parts and systems in an industrial or automotive environment.

The Mechanical Design Engineer will possess a solid awareness of engineering first principles and demonstrate a pragmatic and cost-aware approach to engineering design and enjoy interacting with a wide range of stakeholders in a project setting.

A level of flexibility will be required in the role for travel to customer and supplier sites.
