About the Role

Hampshire County Council require a Visitor Services Assistant - Events, Learning & Engagement to join them at Manor Farm, Bursledon. Manor Farm is steeped in history, the origins of which date ack to medieval times. This historic farmyard keeps the feel of a traditional Hampshire farmstead and offers as valuable insight into times gone by.

What is the day-to-day of the role:

To enhance the Manor Farm experience through inspirational and informative visitor engagement. Interpreting & demonstrating the history of the farmhouse, cottage, and wider farm to visitors.
To support the planning, preparation and delivery of a full events and activity programme throughout the year, with high levels of interaction and enjoyment for our targeted family audience.
To support and deliver the Manor Farm education programme, delivering engaging & educational sessions to visiting schools.
To support and deliver pre-booked activities and clubs.
To ensure the daily presentation of the farmhouse, cottage and associated buildings is delivered to the highest standard.Required Skills and Qualifications

Outgoing friendly personality, with a positive attitude
Experience of teaching or public speaking
Happy to wear period & seasonal costumes when required
Interest in history & an enthusiasm to learn
Maths & English to GCSE or equivalent
Knowledge of basic IT Windows software
Ability to move around the historic location including using stairs which are narrow and relatively steep
Ability to cover a flexible work pattern including some weekend & bank holiday working. Available to work during school holidays. Working hours 9am to 5.30. -
First aid trained or happy to receive training
Experience delivering education activities or a desire to learn.

Flexible working pattern including weekends, bank holidays, school holidays and occasional evenings.
Historic work location including using stairs which are narrow and relatively steep
Display Screen Equipment User
Work Environment includes: Sun exposure, Lone working, Outdoor work, working with animals.
Costume, uniform and Personal Protective Equipment will be supplied
Driving to include: All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV), Hampshire County Council badged vehicle, use of own vehicle for work purposes
COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health), Biological Hazards to include: Animals / birds / reptiles, Vermin control, *Aflatoxins, Moulds / Fungi such as mouldy vegetable matter / bird handling, Human blood or human bodily fluid such as First Aid, Soil, Waste (Environmental Contact)* As part of the pre-employment checks that are undertaken for this role, you will be asked to complete a Pre-Appointment Medical Questionnaire. The questionnaire is confidential and is screened by our Occupational Health Department. Under our duty of care to you.
