A truly exciting opportunity to join the Buying team of the exclusive fruit supplier for the UK's premier supermarket!
Reporting to the Commercial Director, this role is a key appointment for the business and will involve extensive International travel. Office based in Evesham for the first 6 months, a hybrid working pattern thereafter. It is essential to have previous fresh produce buying experience.
Main responsibilities will include;
* Source, negotiate and place orders from a given country of responsibility
* Build and maintain effective working relationships with agents and shippers
* Detailed understanding of the regional industry, customer base/ competitors
* Develop knowledge of cultural, economic and environmental factors
* Undertake stock analysis, communicate product availability
* Negotiate rates with service providers
* Assess all financial risks in your product category
* Forecast, monitor and grow profitability in your products
* Confident representative for the business within the global market
* Plan forthcoming seasons requirements
Personal qualities;
* Smart appearance
* Excellent communication and negotiating skills are essential
* Fluency in a second language advantageous
* Prepared to work with a variety of nationalities
* Numerical and analytical skills
* A competent team player
* Confident, reliable, self-motivated and flexible
* Excellent IT skills
* Experience in a comparable role with a relevant degree
